Parents be vigilant

With the government's deadline for statements of special educational needs being converted to Education Health Care Plan looming, parents must ensure they pay full attention to the process. This should not be a copy and paste exercise by the SEN case officers but a complete evaluation of the document with the young person being central to the process. Local Authorities should meet with you , as parents and the young person prior to converting. Once a draft has been created parent have 15 days to review, comment and or change elements in the plan. However , if you miss this 15 day window it can be extremely difficult to get things changed ( it shouldn't be but it is !!)

So when that draft plan comes go through it and check it is a true reflection of your child and their needs.
